Duration: 12 to 24 months – V.I.E assignement (What is the V.I.E program?) With 10,000+ employees across 40 countries, we are growing our Global R&D Center for Refractories in Ghlin (near Mons, Belgium), and we are looking for motivated Research Engineers to join our Flow Control division through the V.I.E international program. 🎯 Our mission: develop the next generation of high-performance materials for a smarter, more sustainable steel industry. 🚀 What You’ll Do As part of a dynamic and multicultural research team, you’ll be at the heart of experimental and analytical work, combining lab-scale testing, modeling, and microstructural characterization. 🔍 Your key responsibilities: • Conduct experimental research on steel/refractory interactions such as corrosion and clogging; • Analyze microstructures and chemical compositions to understand failure mechanisms; • Develop and test new material concepts to improve product performance; • Work closely with global teams and external research partners; • Stay up to date with industry advances and contribute to technical publications.

Profil recherché

👤 Your Profile You are passionate about materials science, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and are eager to grow in an international environment. Education: • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field. Technical expertise (at least 3 areas preferred): • Refractories, ceramics, composites, or refractory metals • Materials processing (e.g., pressing, sintering, coatings) and structure-property relationships • Steelmaking processes (EAF, BOF, LF, BF) or continuous casting • High-temperature testing and thermodynamic modeling • Material characterization (e.g., SEM/EDS) • Project management or R&D in metallurgy or ceramics
