The Watt & Well teams have a wide range of expertise:
● Integrated power electronics in harsh environments
○ High temperature

○ High EMI
● Motor controller
● A strong understanding of electronics in general, as well as the software that can be integrated into it (µP, DSP, FPGA…)
● The mechanical system for integrating and cooling converters
Watt & Well positions itself as a preferred partner for companies with one-time or recurring needs in these areas. Its key competitive advantage lies in its deep expertise across all the aforementioned fields, combined with the ability to conduct studies and develop prototypes within very short timeframes (3 to 6 months).
The sectors covered by these areas of expertise range from the automotive industry to the oil industry, including the aerospace sector and renewable energy.
Position Summary:
To grow its U.S. subsidiary, “Watt & Well USA, Inc.,” located in Houston, Texas, Watt & Well is seeking an engineer to help grow the business. The subsidiary’s mission is to represent its parent company commercially by providing technical support, helping clients integrate our equipment into their systems and assisting them when they encounter technical difficulties with their systems.
Watt and Well USA is also launching consulting. The consulting mission will consist of helping clients with our expertise to develop innovative solutions. Usually, the period for these missions is short (3 to 6 months). As a firmware engineer, you will play a key role by architecting, designing, implementing, and validating firmware used in electronics that we will develop.
What You'll Do:
● Analyze system requirements and develop a solid understanding of existing product designs and architectures.
● Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for electronic control and monitoring systems.
● Support software development activities during R&D phases, from concept through validation and product support.
● Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate software with hardware platforms.
● Participate in debugging, validation, and troubleshooting of embedded systems in laboratory and field environments.
● Support failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for customer tools and internal electronics.
● Contribute to software documentation, technical reports, and design records.
● Provide technical support during client visits and occasionally act as a technical representative of the company.
● Support on-site activities for client applications, primarily in the Oil & Gas sector.
● Development of software tools, interfaces, or web-based applications related to product operation, diagnostics, or data handling.
Profil recherché
What We're Looking For:
● Versatile, curious, and interested in various technical fields (software, electronics, etc.).
● Self-motivated yet eager to work as part of a team.
● Meticulous and driven by a commitment to achieving goals and delivering high-quality work.
● Passionate about embedded systems and computer science.
The candidate must have two years of experience and be a graduate of an engineering school: either a general engineering school with a specialization in embedded systems or a school specializing in embedded electronics.
In particular, the candidate must demonstrate:
● Proficiency in C/C++, particularly in an embedded context
● Proficiency in Python for scripting
● Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, SPI, …)
● Know how to use debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyser, JTAG debugger)
● Experience developing web applications for embedded platforms (both backend and frontend)
● Experience with RTOS, bare-metal development, or Linux-based embedded systems.
Nice to Have:
● Exposure to hardware bring-up, electronics debugging, and lab testing.
● Familiarity with industrial or field-deployed systems, especially in Oil & Gas or other harsh-environment applications.
