Description de la mission

Who we are Meritis is a growing consulting firm specializing in financial services. With 30 consultants in Portugal and a strong presence in France, we combine the agility of a boutique firm with the caliber of missions usually found at much larger companies. What makes us different? We’re small enough to know everyone by name, but work on projects you’d usually only find at much larger firms. We’re selective about our projects and our people - and we invest in both. The opportunity You’ll work as a Data Analyst or Data Engineer within a major French banking group in Portugal. The financial sector is data-intensive by nature - your role will be to help structure, analyze, and leverage that data to support decision-making across Capital Markets, Risk, or Banking operations. What you’ll do • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to feed business-critical applications • Analyze business data and produce reporting, dashboards, and actionable insights • Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across systems • Collaborate with business teams to understand their data needs and translate them into technical solutions • Explore opportunities to apply AI/ML approaches where relevant What we’re looking for • A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering • Strong skills in Python and/or SQL - the foundation of everything you’ll do here • Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and relational databases • Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or data libraries (Pandas, NumPy) • English fluency (B2+). French is a plus • A pragmatic mindset - you care about delivering clean, usable data, not just building models Nice to have • Experience with big data tools (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Hive) • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Interest in ML/AI frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow) • Previous project or internship involving financial data Why Meritis • Real projects with real impact at a major French banking group - from day one • A human-sized team where you’re supported, not just staffed • Hybrid work model • Strong track record of VIE-to-permanent-contract conversions for top performers • Portugal: international environment, outstanding quality of life, and one of Europe’s fastest-growing tech hubs
