Context: Engie plays a major role in the UK’s green power transition both as a developer of green power projects and de risking new build third party asset. The UK governments ambitious targets to decarbonise the electricity system by the end of the decade have reinforced the importance of GEMS UK’s green power business. The Valuation & Analysis team (V&A) is looking for a VIE in London whose mission is to support the development of GEMS UK Renewables trading desk. The successful applicant will work on a wide range of projects centred primarily around short term power markets and the delivery of over 1GW of renewable energy. By working with Trading, V&A and IS the applicant will have the opportunity to produce analytical work to improve trading decision making in the RES and BESS trading desk, such us maintaining existing machine learning models, or produce trading strategy backtests. Role: • Produce analysis to help the decision making of the RES|BESS trading desk. • Produce analysis and tools to monitor the performance of competitor assets. • Backtest of trading strategies for renewable and battery assets in the GB power market.

Hard skills: • Must have: o Strong data science and programming skills (python). Personal GitHub link is highly recommended. o Fluent in English • Good to have: o Understanding of the energy business and power markets o Experience in ML and forecasting. o Having experience on AWS is a plus Soft skills: • Must have: o You know how to adapt; you like to develop yourself in a constantly changing environment o You are curious, very dynamic, serious and very professional o You are a practical thinker, autonomous, and able to take initiatives o You are able to explain and convey messages about complex issues o You want to be challenged! o You are a team player! Education and professional background: • Master’s Degree or Equivalent: Specify degrees in areas such as: o Data Science o Computer Science o Statistics o Mathematics o Energy Economics o Engineering (Electrical, Energy, or Industrial) o Finance or Economics (if complemented with data analytics expertise) • No prior experience required Languages: • Proficient in English
