Research Associate – Innovation & Exploratory Projects (H/F)

The Baxter R&D team in Nutrition NPD (New Product Development) Innovation/Formulation & Compatibility is seeking a creative and proactive VIE to support exploratory and innovation-driven projects at BAP. This position is designed to accelerate innovation initiatives by combining laboratory experimentation with digital and AI-based approaches. The VIE will contribute to early-stage concept development, feasibility studies, and exploratory investigations, supporting next-generation products, processes, or ways of working. The role will involve working at the interface of laboratory sciences and data-driven approaches, including artificial intelligence (AI), to generate insights, challenge existing paradigms, and foster new solutions. Details of the mission: This position will act as Research Associate within the Innovation scope with the following missions: • Support exploratory studies and proof-of-concept experiments in the laboratory • Contribute to innovation projects, including ideation, feasibility, and early development phases • Apply AI / data analysis tools to laboratory data to generate insights or optimize processes • Assess opportunities to embed digital tools, including AI, in new product development workflow. • Explore new methodologies, tools, or technologies relevant to formulation, compatibility, or analytical sciences • Participate in cross-functional innovation initiatives and collaborative projects • Conduct technical investigations with a strong focus on creativity and problem-solving • Combine experimental and digital approaches to accelerate learning cycles

• Background in scientific discipline (chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, data science applied to life sciences, or similar) • Experience in laboratory work (formulation, analytical, or related fields) • Knowledge/experience or strong interest in AI systems design, computational modeling, advanced analytics, or related technical disciplines • Strong creativity and innovative mindset with the ability to explore unconventional ideas • Ability to combine experimental work with data analysis and interpretation • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently • Strong communication skills to present ideas and results to both technical and non-technical audiences • Scientific curiosity and willingness to challenge the status quo • Basic understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and cGxP practices is a plus • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, exploratory environment • Read, spoken and written English is a must.
