Job purpose / Scope / Context
Major innovative industrial stakeholder in the Middle East, EDF power solution develops, builds and operates assets in low carbon energy productions as well as assets dedicated to flexible and transport of energy. EDF power solution Middle East has got a team of more than 150 employees spread in 3 core countries : UAE, KSA and Oman managing a portfolio of assets made of : 14+ GW in production, 3 GW+ in transport, Street lights projects and C&I business
Within the Strategy and Corporate resources Direction, the Originator / business developer is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, initiating strategic partnerships, and contributing to expand the company’s market presence in the Middle East as well as reinforce its position in the 3 core countries. This role blends strategy, business development, and relationship management to help the organization achieve long-term development in the region.
Job description
Currently, EDF power solutions Middle East is seeking a:
ORIGINATION & BUSINESS DEVELOPER (M/F)
Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Corporate Resources, you will be in charge of very Hydropower focused scope and business development one too as follows :
1. Representation and Stakeholder Management
• Represent EDF group toward authorities, key national stakeholders as well as international entities and private companies promoting a positive company image.
• Establish a strong network among the local officials (government, regulator, local national companies, …)
• Engage with the relevant C-level executives or business stakeholders (banks, investors, partners, contractors, industrial stakeholders, …)
• Identify and approach local and international influencers and decision makers
• Establish a strong relationship with embassies
2. Strategy, Communication and high level intelligence
• Carry out a permanent and continuous market intelligence
• Mapping of the different sectors with the best potentials
• Establish a development strategy per sectors and activity according with a proper prioritization according to the potential
• Lead the identification of new project opportunities and tenders, that align with EDF's strategic goals and market needs.
• Contribute to the communication strategy in new countries, aligning with strategic goals to enhance EDF's image and engagement in the region.
• Have a proper view of the different events to participate when relevant and position the management
3. Business Development and project origination:
• Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities in the energy sector for technologies with good potential not yet structured in the region,
• Be the point of contact of business development in new countries (outside of EDF core countries): namely Koweit and Jordan,
• Be the point of contact of business development in UAE for new technologies that can be developed outside the tendering process
• Develop and implement growth strategies that align with company objectives and sector trends in the new countries
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, government entities, and industry stakeholders,
• Prepare and deliver proposals, expression of interests and technical presentations,
• Bring the right expertise from EDF HQ in case it is necessary,
• Be the bridge between HQ and the region for any initiative and development that would be enforced by HQ
• Conduct market research to assess customer needs, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
• Lead preliminary phases of project development (until handover to Project Dev in Gate B), partnerships, preliminary studies, gate A drafting and development , ….
• Actively contribute to the animation of the origination community (Oman, Saudi)
• Identify key industrial partners and subcontractors for project development and execution.
• Lead business development initiatives to expand the company's footprint
4. Coordination and Support on current projects
• Visit the relevant authorities in charge of following up our ongoing projects to anticipate potential struggle and question from authorities
• Provide the required support to the project in development, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
• Contribute to develop the ICV and DID footprint through partnership with universities, industrials, local stakeholders in general
• Get involve in project review when necessary to have the right level of information to provide to his network
Key criteria : With on-going critical projects in the Middle East (under pre-development and origination), the continuity of service is a priority and require a presence of the candidate on site as early as possible to take over from our current originator
Profil recherché
• Master’s degree in business development or finance
• 1-3+ years of business finance or other relevant experience Ideally in the energy sector
• Knowledge in project development (partnership, Joint Development Agreement requirement, Shareholder agreement structure, project Finance structure…).
• Personal qualities/skills required: good communication, negotiation and presentation abilities. Analytical and strategic thinking skills as well as a business development mindset. A wide set of soft skills is required to interact with partners and authorities
• Languages: Fluent English / French and Arabic would be a plus
