Description de la mission
The Purchasing Specialist has an integral role in the Purchasing Department at Hutchinson Industries, Inc. Trenton, NJ location. This position will be responsible for procuring direct material, ensuring materials meet required specifications, evaluating supplier performance, building supplier relationships, identifying cost saving opportunities, work with an internal cross-functional Team to suggest resourcing opportunities and executing these opportunities. This position will work closely with the Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Agents, Engineering, Quality, and Production Departments to help accomplish all purchasing activities to ensure increased profitability of the company and superior performance. The Purchasing Specialist will also be critical in making sure iValua data is correct and act, as needed, as a liaison with the Activity Purchasing Department. The Purchasing Specialist will also facilitate and/or support International Purchasing activities between Hutchinson Industries’ sister companies in Persan and Mannheim.
Specific Duties
• Manage preparation, implementation and execution of procurement processes.
• Identify suppliers as well as raw material (metallic parts, as well as other textiles) for strategic partnerships.
• Manage Aerospace procurement requirements ensuring correct specifications and on-time delivery
• Negotiate terms and non-disclosures with suppliers, as well as items such as price, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc.
• Develop, negotiate, and implement projects to achieve budgeted cost saving initiatives in the Savings Plan. Make sure that data is reported monthly.
• Perform an evaluation of Trenton’s Purchasing process and make recommendations, as needed, to optimize procedures and processes based on experience and industry best practices.
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders and agreements with appropriate approvals.
• Help develop and build relationships with strategic suppliers.
• Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues and concerns.
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.
• Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
• Work closely with others in the procurement functions and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
• Prepare reports and updates as and when required (e.g., Activity/Corporate Reports, IVALUA Reports, WeProc, and Small Business Plans to the Government).
• Analyzing industry and demand trends and supporting the Purchasing Manager with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
• Occasional travel for supplier visits and audits for existing suppliers, as well as resourcing opportunities. To be done in conjunction with other departments.
• Help manage inventory to lowest possible levels without compromising customer service performance.
• Help support all internal and external stakeholders in the organization.
Profil recherché
Qualifications
• Minimum of BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated history of reducing costs.
• Inventory management skills.
• History of working in a manufacturing environment.
• Must demonstrate strong public speaking, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Must have the ability to work independently and possess strong decision-making, motivational, workload management, analytical and organizational skills.
• Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with management, staff, and customers and demonstrate sound judgment/reasoning skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Require 2 years purchasing experience with ERP system.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering documents, required.
